I have a thing with flashlights all my life . It’s an exploration tool like no other. i couldn’t imagine anyone leaving his home for an adventure and not take a flashlight with him. Preppers, urban explorers, ghost hunters, workers , public safety employees , civilians , and so on, its a tool for everyone . i personally carry always an EDC flashlight and i must tell you that it comes handy pretty often.
L shaped flashlights came from the army back in the days and manufacturers still make them .There are some iconic flashlights . Wuben innovated drastically with the X3 . The company has in their line of products some of the most futuristic designs in the market .
The Owl
The X3 comes in four color configurations ( transparent white, light blue, green and black ). The white X3 has glow in the dark body feature. It is an IP 65 waterproof rating flashlight meaning it can stand rain but not submersible and withstands drops from 1 meter high.
The head rotates 180 degrees .On the face of the X3 two led eyes one white and one red. The white really shines a light with maximum output of 700 lumens in the Turbo mode , beam intensity of 2590 Candelas and maximum distance of view 102 meters for 30 seconds dropping down to 200 lumens for 1.5 hours. In High mode 150 lumens will last for 2 hours. In Medium mode with 50 lumens moving in the dark is a breeze for 6 hours.In Low mode 1 lumen will last for 50 hours! Plus Strobe at maximum output and SOS Signaling at 150 lumens.The Red eye offers night vision with two modes .High output mode of 80 lumens that last for 30 seconds dropping down to 30 lumens that last for 2 hours .In Low mode 1 lumen will last for 30 hours!
On the back of the head an LCD display for always know what mode you are on plus the battery status and the push button. All these features packed in a body that measures 70mm x 35mm x 21mm and weighs only 70 grams!!! Pretty impressive!!! On the back of the light there is a fairly large clip for attaching the light to backpacks hats etc and the bottom of the unit is magnetic for more mounting capability. We are in 2023 the design of the X3 says future so they added wireless charging!
The Nest
It comes with a stand charger or a multipuprose box case that is like a nest for the X3 and it makes perfect sense at camp, with it a weekend excursion sounds a delight as far as light needs. The nest’s door also serves a double purpose . If you insert the light in the box at 90 degree mode the door works as a diffuser and the whole unit is being transformed into a lantern! If you insert the light at 180 degree mode you have a handheld light . At both conditions you have the extra battery power provided by the case . Pretty cool hah?!
